I purchased a Gepe PVC Cable Release with Disc-Lock.

When I screw it on the shutter bracket on either the 210mm Sironar or 90mm Caltar, it does not turn very far. It appears to have a cone shaped end where the threads are.

Is this normal? I told you guys I am a beginer.:o

Some are tapered and a few are straight.

I was just expecting at least one full revolution rather than a half.

What is the thread size? I have a feeling it's something metric rather than, say, 6x40.

These cone tips fit multiple sizes and thus stop as soon as their diameter gets too big. In other words, yeah, they don't screw in very far, because they have limited travel before they become too large to fit.

Cable releases with straight American threads are American Standard Thread 5-44. The tapered threads are 50 TPI and tapered down at 14 degrees 20 minutes from a maximum diameter of .156".

Thanks, I had measured the tapered thread at a different tpi, but didn't have confidence in that measurement. Appreciate the detail.
