cleaning scanner glass?

Just wondering what people use to clean the glass on a consumer flatbed scanner. Ordinary glass cleaner? I've been using a water/alcohol/dishwashing liquid mix for framing glass - supposedly the tiny bit of dishwashing liquid helps keep static down. I thought about using that for my scanner. Any suggestions?

Do not use ordinary glass cleaner!

I got a scanner glass cleaner designed specifically for scanners and copiers. Can't remember the name, but products do exist for this type of cleaning.

The warnings that came with my scanner--- Do not use a glass cleaner that contains ammonia. Be careful not to scratch the glass.

There are several commercial glass cleaners that do not contain ammonia. Windex makes one. Check the label.

Do the final wipe with a microfiber cloth.

I had a roommate who would clean her scanner with windex and wadded up newspaper. I'm not recommending this, but I'm curious about the technique.

The reason for newspaper is that it, for the most part, is lint free. If you clean something with a paper towel it sheds pieces all over what you are trying to clean, but newspaper leaves no lint.

I use Windex and a KimWipe (dust-free paper towel).

I use a mixture 1/3rd Isopropyl Alcohol, 2/3rds distilled water and a drop of rinse aid. Mix thoroughly then use in a pump spray. I use a small one that once held a propriety spray for cleaning spectacles.

This is formula is OK for glass filters, spectacle lenses and scanner glass - just make sure you use a clean lint-free cloth to clean and us a minimum of solution. Use on your expensive coated or uncoated camera lenses at your own risk.

Sprayway commercial glass cleaner. I found out by almost accident that it is excellent for scanner glass.
