This is 120 film I will be using on a roll-film back on 4x5.

For anyone who has tried this new film, how does it compare to Portra or Fuji Pro 160 in terms of contrast and color saturation?

hi ron
shortly stated: its the VELVIA of C41 films. Need accurate exposure. Gives max enlargebility. My experience was with the old EKTAR100 .

Here is one comparative analysis, which includes a comparison with Portra 160VC...

Did you find it much more contrasty than Portra/Fuji Pro?

Absolutely, yes. Its more like Ultra Color 100, but even a bit higher contrast than that. I've been shooting a bit of Ektar 35mm since it came out. I have been scanning it on a Nikon LS-4000. Incredibly fine grain, good color saturation and higher contrast are exactly how I would define this film. It has much more contrast than Portra NC or VC or Fuji's Pro160S or C.

That said, I wouldn't compare it to Velvia except to say that Ektar is to C-41 what Velvia is to E-6. Ektar has more dynamic range than any E-6 film I've used. Its pretty close to the dynamic range of current DSLRs, but I think it looks better.

This wasn't shot in LF, but I've linked it as helpful illustration in this scenario. This is the current Ektar 100.
