Aperture - http://www.apertureuk.com
Mr Cad - http://www.mrcad.co.uk

There are a few others dotted around, but Aperture has a few expensive bits, and Mr Cad has LOADS of stuff.

Teamwork in Foley Street. (http://www.teamworkphoto.com/).

With Ash's 2nd suggestion "Mr Cad" you need to be very careful and know what you're buying. Both Teamwork & Aperture have extremely good reputations, if you can travel slightly Robert White (http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/) is probably the leading UK LF supplier.

Trust IanG about Mr. Cad. They sold me a 105mm Doktor Optic as a 4x5 lens. OK it's a wonderful lens, sharp as hell, BUT it clips the corners on 4x5. They stock lots of wonderful photographic items, but buyer beware and know what your'e looking for.

For central London have a look at Nicholas Cameras (or similar) in Camden High Street. From their ads they appear to be strong on large format. Dennis.

I've heard funny things about the service in Nicholas Cameras. But hey if they got the stock.

I havn't been to Nicholas Cameras for some years and the company does seem to have been in the buisness for a long time now BUT still buyer beware. Know what you want and be aware of prices elswhere.
Best wishes,
Pete.

My opinions based on shopping experiences:

Mr Cad - overpriced and generally over described in terms of condition - I would not go there. All my photographic colleagues at work have had problems with them.

Nicholas cameras in Camden I think is the one being mentioned - the filthiest shop I have been in! And the couple of times I have gone in after phoning to reserve an item, got there to find they did not have them at all - and also extremely rude. Not sure how they stay in business!

Team work in Foley street - extremely professional and knowledgeable - but it's not cheap - a great shop and great staff. Met them at trade fairs too and always willing to talk LF photography and demonstrate.

Robert White in Poole, Dorset is the King of LF - can't say a bad thing about them, but just the same applies to prices - get what you pay for!

There is a shop in New Oxford Street opposite the Jessops store. Last time I went there they had a few LF cameras and accessories in the second hand cabinet, and a big selection of all things used. Pretty good shop.

Steve
