I was interested in a wide angle lens shade that would screw directly into the front of a Linhof 70mm filter holder [The type normally found with a rounded off squared plastic Linhof shade] which will not vignette a 65mm SA lens.

For the Biogon and SA 53mm a special retaining ring was aviable, no. 001917. But with the SA 1:8/65mm the standard retaining ring, without the plastic lens shade, works fine. Of course one needs the step-down-ring 70/51mm.

Peter,

Thank you. I am using the standard retaining ring without the shade to hold the filter, but are you aware of a wide angle plastic, rubber or metal lens shade that I can screw into the holder which will not vignette the image?

Steven,

I've never seen one. Also not for the smaller versions, 42mm, 51mm and 60mm.

For the Angulons 65, 90 and 120mm screw-in lens-shades where aviable in the early Sixties. The SA f8/65mm has the same thread as the Angulon 120mm, M 49 x 0.75. But this will be hard to find today.

I made myself a wideangle shade by cutting down a spare normal shade that had been strangely burned near the front edge by a previous owner, but I only use it for 90-135mm lenses. It vignettes with a 65mm. Like Peter recommends, I use the filter holder alone without a shade with my 65/8 Super-Angulon.
