Omega D2 XL Table Top Depth

After a move last year, I'm finally ready to start building my new darkroom! I have an Omega D2 XL that I want to mount on a built-in counter top without using the base board. My question is, how deep does the counter top need to be? I never print larger then 16" x 20" and that is rare.
