After a year of ripping the hair out of my head trying to figure out how to make a website, I finally have something.
The site isn't completely finished as I still have to type and link a lot of pages for the Japanese crowd. I type real slow in that language!
Cheers and thanks taking a look.

Hi Andrew,
congratulations for your new website! Great images!
One thing that I find distracting is the fact that the font turns from white to grey, shortly after a page has been loaded. I have difficulties reading the grey text.

Cool thanks. I agree the grey font could be a little lighter (more white). Otherwise, I like the photos. I almost went to the University of Victoria (Geography) if it's the one in BC. I got accepted at two graduates schools in 1975, there and Western Washington in Bellingham. I chose the latter for the RA/TA and my (then) wife wouldn't get work until she got the work permit in Canada, but I always wondered since they had the better profs and program.

Nice images. The navigation works well except that I was looking for a "previous" button to use when my spastic mouse finger clicked to the next image before I was ready. Also, the print info page is almost unreadable. I hope this is taken as constructive criticism; it's a nice site.

You win a free course of hair replacement therapy! ;)
Did you mean "nihongo de" rather than "nihon de"?
The "About Andrew O'Neill" page renders garbled in my browser - IE7 on Windows Vista.
Beyond the home page, the header always says "About Me".
Congratulations on getting this off the ground - looking forward to seeing this evolve. Gambatte ne!

Nice work. I have to agree about the font color. I can read it, but it could be a tad lighter. The thumbnails could be a bit bigger but that is always a double edged sword.
Love these especially:

Very nice photographs Andrew. On my browser (Opera) I could read "About Me" but the sentences were disjointed and garbled. Also, when I clicked on "More To Come" my computer hung up (could be the computer, a new one is on its way).

Great work Andrew, now that you are an expert you can come and set up my web site. Keep up the good work

I knew it! I had a feeling the text would be too light. I should have listened to that inner voice. I'll fix it. I'll try making it just slighting off white. I find white a bit on the strong side.
The preview or go back to previous image button will be made shortly too.
As far as garbled text, I really don't know what to do about that...
Thanks for the input gentlemen! I'll fix and then get lost in my darkroom for a while.

Okay. I added "previous" buttons along with the "next" buttons and makes it a lot smoother. I still have to add these buttons to a few other areas. I also increased the opacity of the text so hopefully it'll be easier to read. I left the titles very transparent. It is so time consuming this website thing!

Nice layout, really nice images.
I agree the gray text is tough to read. A slightly larger font might be more readable without lightening the tone too much.

Jeez...I put the opacity to 90% and it's still too dim? I'll try using larger font. Thanks!

Andrew, congratulations on launching your site! You have some very fine images; for me, the Tanko series has the strongest vision. Well done.
Not being a fan of text with photographs, the fact that it appears dim is not a concern. The images should reign.
However, in my opinion, and please take it as that, I believe that your images may suffer from the black background. Do you present them that way for exhibition, or is the website a deviation from your usual presentation? I tried black mats years ago, and found that they worked for the occasional image, but not for the majority. It all comes down to personal choice.
Again, you have some great work, and thanks for sharing.

Thanks Merg for taking a look. I don't know why I went with black for the back ground. I had gray before, with I didn't really care for it. Mind you, it was a lightish gray...perhaps a very dark, close to black gray would look nice. Suggestions?

Andrew, I keep returning to the "Haizara" image; a beauty, and so simple.
As to the background, gray can be elegant. Perhaps a Zone II or Zone III would work.

Thanks Merg! iWeb has a "photography" back ground but it has canvas texture to it that I don't care for. I'll make a back ground in PS and bring it over. Zone III, eh?
By the way, haizara means ashtray...going through that portfolio, I forgot to include a couple of my favourites...back to the scanner!
My "Assemblage" stuff I just started a couple of months ago. Something that I've never done before. Don't really know where that's going to go, though. Oh well, having a lot of fun with it.

I was looking at my website over at a friends house today and I noticed that the text in the "about andrew" section was a bit weird. Line spacing was off, and links at the bottom were either not there, or overlapping other text...any idea what could be causing this? I wonder if it was just his computer?

Andrew,
I love your work and your site. I viewed it on my PC laptop running Windows Vista and found it very easy to use.
I was very moved when I read the text along with the image of the shower steps. For you to give that image to the woman who came daily to look at it was the epitome of class.
Your work is very fine and I love the black pages.
Best,
Randy

Thanks Randy!! You made my day! I really like your image on your web site of the big old tree with The Grand Canyon (I hope it's the right canyon!) in the back ground.
Cheers!
