i bought this CPE at a garage sale and the motor worked for a second before quitting. i'd like to open it up and see if i can't get it to work, but after a lot of headscratching i can't figure out how to get the dang lifter off.

Beneath the lift there are four knurled nuts which hold the lift on. Remove these and raise the lift straight up. Then there is a plate to remove before you can see the motor and mother board.

You may be lucky and the problem is a blown fuse. It is soldered to the mother board.

I have two CPE2s and just today took one of the lifts off. There is a screw (or knurled knob) at the back of the lift (underneath). Take this out and the lift slides off two pins or screws in the front. Back in this case refers to the left side of the CPE.

Then remove six screws and the knobs and the top panel lifts off.
