Does anyone know how to recreate a process similar to Joshua Jensen Nagle's (http://www.artmo.com/Artists/joshua+jensen+nagle/) work? The best examples of his work can be found here (http://www.artmo.com/Artists/joshua+jensen+nagle/), on Artmo | Art Market Online (http://www.artmo.com) (my favorite sites to check out great photography and techniques – check it out if you already haven't).

For an example of the technique I'm looking to recreate, check out his Bears (http://www.artmo.com/Artwork/Bears/joshua+jensen+nagle/) piece.

It says "Diasec Mount to panel," yet to be honest I have no idea what this means and am hoping someone here might.

Thank you, all. Hope someone can provide some guidance. If not recreating the actual process, simple tips and techniques to obtaining the same end result would be great. I love the aged and tempered looks to these pieces and would like to create my own landscapes utilizing a similar technique.

Bears... I think for that piece the first thing you have to do is kill the bears.

Diasec... the print is facemounted to acrylic.

Cheers.

The bears? Kill them? Come now, Annie. Why would we do that.

Thanks for the information. Quick question – is this expensive to do?

Another quick question –*where can I go to get this done?

Thanks, Annie.

Waynear...

Do not know why anyone would kill a bear but those two look 'stuffy' to me.

Diasec is at least 10x the cost of window mounting... it is not a process you can do your self as I believe it is proprietary... cannot help you with the where.

Joshua certainly has been busy. The prints are huge. Here's a thought: call him and ask him what hardware & software he's using. Kinda looks like Photoshop meets William Henry Jackson or Timothy O'Sullivan to me. I hope I'm wrong.

Plastic fantastic!

Do I have to pay extra for tiny LEDs that light up the bear's eyes?

Oh yeah....
You don't happen to work for this guy do you?
Or the galleries you mention?

I feel spam crawling up my leg.

I guess I'm a trusting soul.

Now that you mention it, the aroma of Spam may be in the air.

There is a place in Calgary that does "Diasec" for several image makers, and corporate clients... Their web site is here: http://www.ablimaging.ca/

I watched them perform the acrylic mounting procedure, a few months ago, and the result was rather spectacular. They happen to provide space for another company, called "Accumedia," that does my drum scanning... :)

Thanks a lot for the website, Jim. I checked them out and they seem like a good fit. A bit worried to ask for a quote, but I'll get over it.

Nevertheless, it's good to know where to start.

Thanks again!

Check out Jack Spencer's work (http://www.jackspencer.net/), specifically 'This Land'. I think you'll find similarities in the look of the finished work. Then read this interview (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa4074/is_200407/ai_n9431629?lstpn=search_sampler&lstpc=search&lstpr=external&lstprs=other&lstwid=1&lstwn=search_results&lstwp=body_middle) for primer on his techniques.

the colorings of the image is easy to do.

use some coffee in different dilutions - tea the same, and then maybe a little amount of blue toner (has to be applyed last)

I've done many images using these "chemicals" and they work fine...
