Does anyone have any experience doing this? There's a consulate for nearly every country here in NYC except for a few places I'm dying to visit. Iran is one. Syria is another. If anyone knows how to go about getting entry visas for these places please let me know!

Thanks!

I went there a few years ago, but from Canada. I had to go to the consulate to get a visa. I'm sure you would have to do the same, or the embassy. Relations between your two countries aren't that great right now, so I can't imagine they'd have too many consulates in the US, if any. One option might be to get one in a consulate in a foreign country. It may take a while between the application and actually getting the visa though.

you can usually get around the "tour" thing. most of the time it only requires a bit of grease. or you can just say you are on a tour. many travel agents can get you through that. that is what we did to get into Myanmar several years back. we were basically a tour of one.

there was a guy from that part of the world here or on apug that was talking about iran. i can not remember who it was but doa seach and you will find him. he has been there several times....and.....he live sin NYC.

i want to go but.......i think i am getting too old for these kind of adventures :)
