Hello everyone, sorry for the newbie post but any info would be really helpful. I work for a company that’s considering getting some kind of large printer to do single prints of movie poster kinda sized documents at full color (basic poster quality). Will be used like posters indoors on walls. We’d be using it every day most likely but wouldn’t be printing the same thing very often. What direction should I be looking? Large format inkjet? Laser jet? Something else? Aqueous, Solvent, Dye sublimation, UV? Price is an issue too (of course)…

Any help would be appreciated. If you could just push me in the right direction that would be awesome.

THANKS!

Hi,

This is primarily a large format photography forum.
But im in the pre press business also. The answer really depends on the budget.
Solvent would have the longest life but the quality still doesn't match Aqueous yet.
Most of the posters are printed on a press and not via inkjet.

In the AQ arena, i would recommend the HP Z6100. Its the successor to the HP 5500, a fantastic printer.
Pair it with the Onyx Rip and you can do almost anything with it. Especially posters.

Give me a call and maybe i can help with some more suggestions off line.
