Since there seems to be no information available on this lens I thought it best to make some comments about one I have just received.

It is a four element, symmetrical lens looking roughly like this: (( (| |) ))
The inner elements are much smaller and fit almost entirely within the rear of the outer elements. The elements are held in place by the trim rings which unscrew easily allowing them to drop straight out of the cell.

The cells are a straight fit into a Copal 3s (or Copal 3 with the 56mm threads), however they will probably need shimming. In the barrel, with original shims, the overall length was 53.5mm. When I put the cells in the Copal 3s, still with shims, the length was 52.5mm

Circle of illumination at f4.5 was around 250 - 260mm and didn't seem to improve much as I stopped down. At some point I'll try a few sheets of 8x10 and see what it really covers.

A 150mm F4.5 in a copal 3s? wow, is that Tessar design or what? I've never heard of that lens, pretty cool. Post some photos!

That lens should be a Computar in disguise, but perhaps not. The reason it's so big, just a guess here, is that the normal Graphic Kowa 150 is an f/9 lens. To get f/4.5 out of it would require a much larger piece of glass. I've never heard of the 4.5 version, but my thoughts are it should be a good one.

There's the Computar Symmetrigon (see http://cgi.ebay.com/Computar-Symmetrigon-150mm-f6.3-Large-Format-Lens-Cells_W0QQitemZ250358413917QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090117?IMSfp=TL090117113011r14572) which is a symmetrical 4-element design, but it's only f6.3 and goes in a Copal 1. Plus I don't know if the Symmetrigon was ever rebranded as Graphic-Kowa. The mystery deepens...

Okay, some quick photos. The first shows the lens in barrel. The scale is marked from f4.5 to 45. In the next I've tried to give some idea of the curvature of the front element. Lastly here is a 150 G-Claron to give an idea of scale. The visible part of the Kowa front element is 44mm in diameter.

Does anyone have one of these Symmetrigon 150? Good? Bad? Indiferent? I was thinking of picking up an Ektar 152mm from KEH for about the same price. I have a Copal 1 that I can use.
