I finally received the 14X17 Chamonix I ordered earlier last year. The wait was worth it! The camera is exquisitely constructed and has a few thoughtful and custom (for me) features incorporated, such as: lifting strap, reversible back, enough bellows for my 35" RDA, removable bellows, ground GLASS (not acrylic), tabs that slide into front vertical rails to allow just rise and fall without tilt (useful for those heavy lenses!), flip in tabs to limit back tilt to 90 DEG or click them out for smooth rear tilt control - i.e. there is no detent in the rear strut - this is a great idea, 2 levels on top and on bottom of rear standard ....
All in all a simply terrific camera, smooth functioning, rigid, easy to use, just under 20 lbs, and soft-sided case included for camera and each of 2 (superb) holders.
Many thanks to Hugo and Hass!!

Below are 3 quick and crappy digi-snaps....now I just gotta wait for the temperature to break 0 DEG

A thing of beauty, and she looks lovely on the Ries! (But now you have to make the first exposure a memorable one...)

14x17 is a wonderful format, "under 20 pounds" is going to make it really easy for you to love it. Big GG to ocmpose on, big contact prints to look at......sigh.
I can't wait to finish my replacement camera. (I sold my Wisner 14x17 Trad. to build myself some new cameras including a 14x17)

The Chamonix people really know how to build a camera. That's gorgeous.

Please send your first chrome from this.
An 11x14 chrome sounds like something I should see before I die.

Richard,

Maybe she'll have a half sister someday.. I've been thinking about a
Chamonix custom 8.5x14.
Any other interest in this format?
