I'm trying to figure out the "ACTUAL" weights for the different panoramic backs available for 4x5...

I'm thinking about the Guohua 6x12 only because of it's lighter weight for backpacking.

is there a difference in weight between the Da-Yi and the Shen-Hao 6x17 backs? How about their 6x12 backs?

How about the actual weight of the horseman 6x12?

everyone keeps saying they are HEAVY, but I am having trouble coming up with actual weights. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I am a backpacker so weight is important to me.

The horseman 612 back is listed at 590g (~1.3lb) the shen at 650g (see http://www.largeformatphotography.info/sh612.html for a review). Discussion of the 617 backs is http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?t=12295 but I cant find a better idea of weight than "about 2 lb"

Thank you for the info. I was kinda hoping for actual weights. Manufacturers stated weights can be so unreliable.

This is coming from a guy who cuts off his toothbrush handles and uses a tarp that doubles as a poncho for a tent.

I just weighed my Horseman 6x12 backs - 586 grams for one, 592 grams for the other.

The Guohua 6x12 back is supposedly 400 grams or .9 pounds (according to seller)

According to the seller of the Da-yi 6x12 back, it weighs 1.8 pounds

the 6x17 backs are over 3 pounds from what I've heard, but still waiting for proof.

The 6x17 DaYi back that I had (roll film holder and ground glass unit together) was 1550g.

Just for a comparison - the Calumet 2CN 6x12 is 650g.
