Strand was the cameraman on these? Please jog my memory...

There is an old New Yorker article, circa 1960s, on Strand that mentions these, I believe. Available to those who have the New Yorker DVD archive collection or subscribers can access online...

Strand and Sheeler made Manhatta together. It was the first use of cinema to portray a city as a living entity. Later, German cinematographers made Berlin, Symphony of a City, which is better known, but Strand was the pioneer.
I don't know anything about the Buster Keaton flick, but look forward to seeing it.
