I don't know, but I will say I have a plain ole 210 symmar S MC and it's a fantastic lens. They run about 275 used and it's the best bang for the buck IMO.

If you are using the very best scanning and output devices, or making giant silver prints, and using a very rigid camera with a solid tripod, slow film, and using all of the best practices and striving for impressive, ultimate, extra-large images... then you may see an improvement with the more modern lens.

But if the rest of your workflow is somewhat compromised -- as nearly all of ours are -- then the Symmar-S is a fine, sharp lens.

I use a Symmar S and it's a terrific lens. I would save the money for another lens.

Use the one with the least "old lens haze". That will make more difference than the difference in technical performance. Get an old pocket flashlight that uses an incandescent bulb to look through the glass.

Cheers,
