Matting prints

Hi,
I am currently preparing for a show in January, and have a question regarding the matting of my prints. My prints have been toned in selenium, and have a distinct cool tone. What tint of white matte board would be preferable with a cool print? My present supply of matte board is what's called a "matte white", which seems a bit warm compared to the print.

Any suggestions?

I suggest "bright white" rag board, also called museum board (which is only a bit yellow.)

I would also suggest "Bright White" (I usually get the rag board from Light Impressions...but the shipping has gotten quite expensive.)

If you are looking for a really white board try, Alpharag Artcare, Pure White, Item#8655. Its one of the whitest boards I have ever found and is supposed to be very archival as well, great for cool prints. Talas.com has it and http://www.conservationresources.com/Main/section_16/section16_01.htm

I use Exeter Conservation Board, Bright White for the same thing.
I get mine from Light Impressions which is having Free Shipping this month, so buy now.

I love the exeter board. It seems to work well for warm, neutral, and cool prints.

I, too, use the Alpharag Artcare Pure White #8655 (4-ply) for my selenium toned Ilford Galerie prints. As you may already know, different papers respond to toning quite differently. Depending on your print size you may also want to consider the 8-ply version #B8653-8 for the mount board and 4-ply for the beveled mat. Using the same material for both mount and mat circumvents the possibility of slight color differences that can be quite bothersome aesthetically. The Exeter board from light impressions is an excellent product. It is available in gallery white, which is warmer than the bright white Westminster rag board. Most suppliers will send you a free sample, although Light Impressions charges a small amount for their samples.

Thanks for all your help. Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to order form the States, since there is such a long delay with parcels at the border. Apperantly the Canadian postal system opens all parcels, or so I was told. I have had delays often lasting 3 weeks. I seems to depend from whom I order. Badger Graphics is alway quite fast- usually a week and 1/2. But Freestyle, I have had delays quite a bit longer.

I chose a cooler matte from the local art supply in town, and I think that will work fine. Again, thanks for all you help.
