A home security camera. You set it up via an app for your phone. You have to create an account, grant the app permission to access your phone's camera/video, network, and GPS to set up the camera.
I dunno if I'm being too paranoid but after glancing over their EULA with statements like sharing info with partners, the app failed to finish its setup after I said no to the GPS permission. In my mind, without knowing the details of how it works, it should be able to function just fine connected to your network. I don't think it needs precise GPS info. It can get a general location from the registration of my internet provider's upstream DNS server.

So looking at this night shot I was imagining what it might look like in color, if I'd shot it that way. I found an online tool for colorizing "old" black and and white images and gave it a go just for fun, and got this:
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAkCe5flVDcAZ7T_zLxHqMb3tXEvwp_MSCWSX-6Nu3bL-6vg7zUngeviJGQnXyFZG0-HpJ2JqyyP2ZuZmxg7A1Y46rhHKxSA2xzHYrgCFNG6UM9hWfG5CqrprPqf89k_JkJYfQHZcVy1D2iDRiyTe1Nq1rFQoEepKZ38DQCEnffDpA-k9rl2oYD_wTL8Q/s1000/kentucky-3508_DSbPX__HDs.jpg
I really like how the grain remained. Reminds me a bit of an Autochrome. I think this is an interesting application of AI technology. Last year I also did some experimentation with AI colorization on old images of my grandparents which was very interesting.

This was done a while ago. I'm going back through my images, converting everything to B&W. I created a couple of Adobe actions to help out, and I am using the automate / batch function they have. I convert all the RAW files to JPG applying settings that I want to start with. That way I can look at all the images and really see the candidates for further work. This one popped up. When first taken, I ignored it, because the color version just looked memphf!
Anyway, to answer you question, I guess I focused on the hyperfocal distance. This made it look like almost everything is in focus.
Here are the main settings: 2011:05:21 17:04:33 : NIKON D700 : 24mm : 24-70mm f/2.8 AF D G : 200 ISO : F8 : 1/250 sec : 0 EV

Tuco those sea stacks illuminated by...streetlights? Is the coolest thing!
Edit...but having just looked at your earlier photo - if you could have somehow juxtaposed that long kelp stem with the sea stacks in that lighting...then the stem would look like a rather ominous "power cord" for the lighting!
Beautiful light and composition.

Yes, those Mercury Vapor ( I think) flood lights that have a horrible color temperature to deal with; hence the BW.

jon-oman -- A great photograph, and fascinating in many ways. The lighting is fine, although it may have already been provided by windows on the wall out-of-sight to our right. The purely functional architecture from a bygone era is always intriguing. Think of hand-fitting all the ends of those joists into the large supporting beam that runs across the picture, and cutting the posts to precisely support their share of the floor above! The ceiling of this floor only hints at what it must support just above it. The four small modern signs are merely tantalizing clues about the full function of the machinery. I like puzzles, even like this one where there is no "Eureka!" moment where the complete solution appears. This is one of the most engrossing architectural photographs I have ever seen.

I'm currently listening to Bill Evan's 'Paris Concert Two'. If you're into jazz, check it out :)
Very nice
I have a few old tube radios
I unplug them when done
I made a 1 tube AM transmitter as preteen
Then I added more power
and decided an inductive antennal was needed
I used the longest wire I could find
the the phone line
soon I had all phones ringing at neighbors
I shut it down asap

I paid a $1.95 for this wheel building pamphlet back when I was a teenager. And I used my bicycle frame as truing stand just like shown on the cover of this pamphlet. Back then you could usually build you own wheels cheaper than having them custom made. But that's not the case anymore. Where is does pay off now is if you want to move say a hub set over to a different rims or something.

Here is Automatic Makiflex #3 with Plaubel 150mm F4.5 Auto Iris Xenar. "Super Bubbapack" new high voltage Power Pack for Vivitar 365, a fairly powerful flash. Plaubel marketed this camera as useable for reportage, the flash sync is 1/15, so not really for flash outside. Interior ambient light should not record, the 365 is automatic out to 75 feet depending. Embellished the Super Bubbapack, adding a Domke Super Gripper Strap, cut the bottom piece off with Japanese fine cutting saw, added some Gaffer Tape to neaten it up. Finally, a rubber pad on bottom of pack, so everything sits down nicely on a flat surface, it's important to be able to set this down without it tipping over! 9x9cm B&W images will be taken on 9x12cm and 4x5" film. Great rig for high fidelity low light reportage.

I have never seen a total eclipse - "just" about 80%.
I found it quite humbling to see the Solar System in action - we are normally quite ignorant of the movement of the planets.

Nikon D800E, 14-24mm, with a solar filter ripped out of a pair of glasses taped to the rear element for the sun images (camera stayed stationary). About 6-7 minutes between each image (I set the camera to fire off a photo every minute, then chose only every 6-7 images to stack).

I liked it better in b&w. Also you can see little slivers of light in the bottom left of the frame, that is thousands of honeybees that swarmed down from the sky and settled in a bush when I started the sequence off with a bare image to stack on top of.

Supplies seem to run dry of these in 35mm f2 (https://bergholt.net/zeiss) with ZK mount (especially the 50mm & 100mm f/2 macro). Got one for my Pentax K5 (which I plan to upgrade to a K1 some time in the future) fairly priced on eBay.
Nice weekend to everybody & I'd love to see your latest lens additions :)

So my wife asked me to make a photograph for a friend of hers that is moving away. They met at a local brewery where she worked, and was very beloved by the owner, so the idea was to take a pic of the brewery and add in some astrophotography image as she is also into astrology and has purchased my prints before. Thursday I took some images after dark and made this composite with Pleiades. The owner wants a copy too now and will probably hang it in the bar.

Bryan, You are very close to being correct! This image started out as an interior shot of St. John the Baptist Cathedral that is located in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. When I made it, I did not have a tripod, and it was shot a 3200 ISO. So, a lot of image noise. I don't have a computer with a multi-gigabyte memory image processor. So, no way to improve it. A guy I know on Fred Miranda always shoots high ISO and has been using solarization with his images. Recently he has been slightly distorting the images. I thought I would try to do this. Well, my first attempt was not slight! But, it was interesting! This one is not solarized. I tried that, but did not like the result, so just left it in B&W.

I see! It was very sharp, so my second guess was a digital effect. A couple of months ago I posted this image (https://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?43423-safe-haven-for-tiny-formats&p=1704231#post1704231) with a reflection in a font so was thinking similarly.
Speaking of that trip, I only just now developed some color film from it. We visited the National Corvette Museum on our way back from Louisville (sadly without my Corvette as it was running poorly) and I shot some Atlanta Film Co. 500T (Vision3) film in the museum:

When was this taken? It almost looks like it could be from the 1960's. Love the lighting!
