A full moon in the background of the Adam's Family house would be icing on the cake. I wonder if the moon is ever in that direction?

A couple of Minox shots from our last trip to Japan
230202 My wife (Rt) buying new chopsticks. That's all they sell in this shop. Must have had several thousand sets. Anything from a few dollars to nearly $30,000.00 a set.
230203 Sonoda-san in his Tonkatsu shop. I used to eat there several times a week when I worked a hundred yards down the street. I remember walking towards my office one hot stuffy muggy Tokyo morning when he came down the street on his motor scooter laughing so hard I thought he'd crash into something. As he passed he pointed to something on the back of his scooter - he was leaning on a 50 pound block of ice. Cool! #1 (一番/ichiban) best Tonkatsu in Tokyo.
230204 Ajiyoshi. Hole in the wall (might seat 12 people in a pinch) with some of the best food in Nagoya (my wife's home town.)

A few Mamiya 645/Ektar 100 photos from the same trip.
230222
Sunrise. Japan is, after all, the land of the rising sun. Wakura Onsen, Noto Peninsula on the Sea of Japan, Rural - very rural. The dogs and cats give you the stink eye when you drive through some of the small towns because they like to sleep in the middle of the road, and you're interfering with their naps.
230223
The sun rises and sets. Sunset from the balcony of our room.
230224
Nagoya Castle
Edit. Japan (Or to say it as the Japanese do, Nihon or Nippon (Yes, they say it both ways) is written as 日本 literally Sun Origin. IIRC the term was first used in a 7th century communication with the emperor of China that went along the lines of "Greetings from the Emperor of the Land of the Rising Sun to the Emperor of the Land of the Setting Sun...". I worked in Japan for six years, met and married my wife of 33 happy years there and and we still speak Japanese at home in Arizona.

Traditional (合掌作い/Gassho-zukuri/Praying Hand Construction) thatch roofed houses in Shirakawa-go not too far from Takayama. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site and the overlook for the town center is MOBBED, but a mile or two away down a small unmarked road (Almost all Japanese roads are un-named and buildings are not numbered sequentially.) these beautiful old houses don't attract any tourists at all. The name refers to the appearance of the roof in that it resembles the way you would hold your hands when praying,

This is Kodak Vision3 250D, repackaged here in Atlanta under the "Atlanta Film Co." label started by some local photographers (https://studioc41.net/shop/). Remjet is still on it, unlike Cinestill. I wanted to give this a go and try home developing in C-41, with a baking soda pre-wash. The remjet wasn't totally removed after the pre-wash and I had to do a wipedown of the film after developing. Probably not really in to doing this often but it was a fun experiment. Color is nice too, with a slightly warm feeling that reminds me of Fuji C200. Dynamic range is excellent with nice highlights and deep open shadows.

Nice work, Jon!
Alan, thanks. I used a Nikon Z7II full spectrum camera. For all but one, I used an IR/UV blocking filter. For one, I used a 720nm Kase filter. The lens was a Nikkor 24mm T/S lens, sometimes using shift to make a pano. I used Lightroom and Photoshop to process.

This was the last shot of the roll, on my last roll of the 100' spool. I kneeled down quickly and simply guess-aimed the camera near the ground, and shot just as the dog looked my way. The far right side of the negative is light-struck from bulk loading. Cropped 4:5 for that reason (and I liked it more anyway).

I wanted a small incogneto digital back, to go on my new Plaubel Peco Jrs. So I took the $60 18mp Sony Nex C3 body, and JB Welded it on to a Peco Jr board with #0 hole. I put a popup hood generic type, with a moncular magnifier that folds out of the way, and viewing is very good with this! Great for lens testing, and eliminates the need for expensive Fujiroid instant material. Exposure readouts in the viewfinder great for determining base exposures through the lens. Shown here with the chrome 100mm Schneider Symmar (standard lens for 6x9 film and plates), in a a later vintage Compur shutter. I am trying to collect the lenses that were originally offered in the Plaubel catalogs of the day. This will be a useful tool for me in the studio, also in the field. I can switch back and forth between digital and B&W film of allsorts in rolls and sheets. This will be fun to field test.

On the left back, a Plaubel Makina 35mm Roll Film Back (miniature size) on a Makiflex MX/525 Adapter Back. So 35mm film on the Peco Junior or my Makiflexes. On the right back, Sony 16mp Nex3 E camera body attached to another PJ 120x120mm lens board. As you can see the E chip is about 35mm size or so. The advantage of this new digital back is that is weighs practically nothing, and is about the size of my Makina Film Backs, with a lot less weight. Finally in the front left is a Canon Digital rear lens mount, ready to be bolted to another Plaubel 120x120 lens board. With a very short extension tube, the Canon 50D digital camera will clear the back, due to the bulging grip on the front of the camera. All this is quite usuable for photography especially digital testing of lenses and such. And of course the idea can be upscaled with an old Hasselblad or Phase 1 etc for medium format digital photography on the cheap. With the Makiflexes, I have to open the focal plane shutter at the "B" setting, then compose and shoot with the digital backs. Useful for testing and reads out correct exposures in the digital camera. So a quick and easy switch to 35mm or medium format/sheet film and digital back and forth easily.

I had severe vertigo for decades and had to give up driving, motorcycles and bicycles about 15 years ago, 2 years after that, had a heart attack. I took an Uber to my favorite Chicago Hospital Northwestern downtown. Faster and way cheaper. I walked in and was front lined. I said 'HEART ATTACK!'
20 minutes later I was prepared by the same DR that told me wait for new Stents, 10 years prior.

I live rural now, 400 miles from Chicago. Not going back for any reason.
But this is a college town with a new nursing school, they are excellent!
and a 55 year friend is head admin over a large medical system I can walk to. I wanted that and obviously need it as I no longer drive.
I finally found a private taxi, he buys a new car every 2 years.
She hired a Hindu GP Dr born and raised right here, he is very smart. I will consult first with him.
Soon!
Possible to get proper help?

This is the handheld camera I used to photograph the digital tree photo just posted here. Great for testing and checking lenses, Makiflex Automatic #1 has the Makiflex Auto Iris 150mm Schneider Symmar. I have only seen this lens offered in Europe after decades of looking around. Anyways cock the aperture and it stops down just before the focal plane shutter goes off. Hence "Automatic". Loving the digital back, cost no money and works a treat. Fits interchangeably with my mini-me Peco Junior view cameras. "Poor Man's Medium Format Hand Holdable Digital with Moves".

That's excellent, Bryan!
Thanks you two, just saw this. Daniel, I like XX for its flexibility, especially in a camera with limited shutter speeds. I've shot 200 feet of a 400 foot can, and just spooled another 100 feet into my bulk loader. There may be a new source of pre-packaged XX soon, from a friend of mine, for those looking for b&w 35mm film...
I posted a 4x5 shot earlier, but I actually had many cameras out with me this morning for the eclipse. I had my Nikon out taking lots of exposures every minute to do a composite. I've been waiting years for this opportunity and while the clouds did spoil some of it at the start, for the most part it worked out well:

I had severe vertigo for decades and had to give up driving, motorcycles and bicycles about 15 years ago, 2 years after that, had a heart attack. I took an Uber to my favorite Chicago Hospital Northwestern downtown. Faster and way cheaper. I walked in and was front lined. I said 'HEART ATTACK!'
20 minutes later I was prepared by the same DR that told me wait for new Stents, 10 years prior.
My stent may be failing OR I have Types of Syncope or Fainting (https://facty.com/ailments/body/types-of-syncope-or-fainting/?style=quick&utm_source=adwords&adid=503271027760&ad_group_id=124447689531&utm_medium=c-search&utm_term=syncope&utm_campaign=FH-USA-Search-Types-of-Syncope-or-Fainting-Desktop&gclid=CjwKCAjwtp2bBhAGEiwAOZZTuJ9ymT4Z-PoEA6rK11OzSp8eZRkLPng2_JR9sG-oiAZ9-hj4YTPQHhoCrSgQAvD_BwE)
So no more headstands! I could do them 20 years ago...
I will order a new DIGI Blood Pres machine minutes from now
Now, I know it is the American way to deny DEATH!!!
However since I was very young, like age 5, I have predicted 3 score and 10
I am 73 soon

Bernice, Thanks for your inquiry!
I hope you are on the mend. I'm 65, I developed vertigo about 15 years ago. When it's bad it's a nightmare, I've fallen down in my house. A friend of ours had this happen in public, in California, at the beach the cops thought she was drunk. Finally she got help.
Mine is positional.
Damn, shame, keep your wounds clean!

Our skin certainly gets thin as we age! Couple that with blood thinners and it does get messy! Backpacking through blackberries this summer had my arms dripping blood that I'd wash off whenever I crossed the creek.
Hey, Bryan -- love both the widelux and the digital eclipse image! The widelux shot reminded me of the attached image -- two 120 negs 'stitched' together. Two of my boys at Gold Dust Fall, Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park.

Another digital test shot, building up Tim Kelly lighting in my smaller portrait space. Here I have exchanged the 60x60 Broncolor Pulsoflex Softbox, with the biggie globular Broncolor Balloon head, on a 300 ws Broncolor Impact Monolight. Light measured with Broncolor FM2 digital strobe metered measures F16 at Ei 100. The idea with this light is an overall soft directional fill, lighting as much background as possible. In these close quarters the Balloon head is definately the way to go, I can't imagine a softer light source with this one. Of course it falls off from side to side, just like windowlight but artifical. A good upgrade from using a small soft box, it didn't light enough of the set for my uses. This is my other cool James Bright canvas painted 9x12 foot background. I'll be changing up my background setup soon but it's going to be a bit of carpentry involved but well worth it

This is my Plaubel Peco Junior with Baggy Bellows 65mm F8 Super Angulon. According to my Plaubel literature, the Peco Junior fully utilizes the full range of movements possible with the 65mm F8. This will become one of my main lenses for this camera I am thinking. Shown with Schneider 65mm F8 SA Center Filter, and Minolta SRT Cable Release. Pretty wide small with extreme movements possible. Nice. The Magnifying Hood swivels left and right for brightest viewing and works a charm with this lens. Can easily see the entire screen and focus, as well as movements set visually

Not real sharp but still successful in some ways. Modeling lights only, Tim Kelly Broncolor lighting test. Peco Jr Body Baggy Bellows, bought a new to me 65mmF8 chrome Super Angulon from Roberts for $189 not bad Sony NexC3 Back, Schneider "Center Filter For 65mm F8*" attached. Not bad as a way to test lighting before commiting expensive film. The Peco Junior was designed (according to Plaubel) to be able to fully utilize the 65mm SA. It is a great lens and an olde favorite of mine. Mounted on this camera system it will certainly be a main lens to use. Also in the wings I have a mint 65mm F6.8 chrome Schneider Angulon, it will be interesting to see the differences, the Angulon is a Dagor derivative, and also looks great through the Peco Junior

Someone on Facebook had just shot a picture of the full Moon with Mars nearby. I rushed outside and had a great view of the Moon. Attached the Minolta AF 500 mirror lens to my Sony A850. Had not used it in a while and it did not work out too well because I have been using my new to me Sony A99II. So I switched the AF 500 to the A99II using manual focus (hand held) and manual exposure at Sunny-16
Moon and an invisible Mars

i.e. 1/2000 @ F/8 at ISO 400. The uncroped image is included above. It was very hard to hold and focus the lens. The AF 500 will go past infinity so I was backing off a bit and my old eyes (78) are not as good as they used to be. So the image suffers from camera shake and slightly out of focus image. But haste did make a reasonable image.

Yesterday I put these four lenses together, had been using them on Plaubel Makiflexes. Have four shutters from Fuji WS 210 and WS 270 lenses; these perfectly fit the GX680 front and rear cells. Shown from left front: the 65mm F5.6 GX680, front right 100mm G5.6 GX680. Back left the 125mm F3.2 (hot glass!) and back right, the 125mm F5.6. These lenses are heavy, metal Peco Jr boards are solid and they balance well on my two Peco Junior cameras. These lenses are 90's modern uber sharp, and have big image circles, a perfect choice to go on these 6x9cm view cameras. I still have five more GX680 lenses to convert to Peco Junior, I need some more metal PJ lens boards, and some more Seiko shutters. I do like the olde glass from the 60's, but it is great to have modern glass as a choice. This project will continue as I find what I need to finish it.

I found my 58mm f5.6 Rodenstock Graflex XL Grandagon, which I removed with some surgery, attached it for decades to a Custom hand welded Norma deeply recessed board. I used this lens (sometimes) for landscape and Architectural Interiors. It was just a teeny wider than the 65mm lenses of the day. Loved it and has sentimental value to me. Now it's on a flat Peco Jr Board, all tuned up and ready to shoot. This lens covers 9x12cm but is really sweet on Peco Junior 6x9cm, which allows maximum camera movements without running out of image circle. This is a good setup for the Atomic Age LOL

Been working on these five Fuji Gx680 (first I converted them to Plaubel Makiflex Barrel Mount Lenses). When my two Plaubel Peco Junior cameras came in, I decided to convert these lenses, adding modern Seiko Shutters from the Fuji 210mm and 250mm WS series of lenses. All good even the f/stop scales will work good without modifications. These are 90's era cutting edge glass for the Fuji GX680, used for studio and professional use. From left to right, Peco Junior focused at infinity, with 65mm F5.6 GX680. Amazing to look through! Next the 80mm F5.6 GX680, then the 100mm F5.6 GX680, then the 125mm F3.2 Uber Glass. Best of the Best, they also make a F5.6 model. Finally the other Peco Jr, focused at infinity with the 180mm F3.2 GX680. Some portrait photographers say this lens is TOO sharp for portraiture, subjects complain. LOL All these lenses have Beeg image circles, allowing for full use of the Peco Junior's front and back movements. So the best lenses from that era, combined with the tiniest most precise view camera ever made. What a match-up! Can't wait to take out a small bag, small tripod, and try out all this new stuff. In the foreground is the new shorty sawed-off focusing rail, great with the really wide older lenses.

A photograph I unearthed today. According to my notes, this was the first shot I ever took with 3x4 Fuji 3000B instant film (RIP) with my converted Polaroid 900, back in November or December 2011. The door here is my last apartment during grad school, where my wife and I lived together when we were first dating. And sitting next to the door, the base board for the Beseler MXT I bought from a member of this forum that year. I proceeded to setup that enlarger in our second bedroom and printed only at night when I could cover up the windows heavily. That Beseler is still in use here in my darkroom, my primary enlarger.

Thanks, Peter. I had planned on waiting for the truck to drive out of the frame, but then thought I should catch it in the photo. I like that it is an older model, not one of the huge, sculpted monstrosities that are favored where I live!

Here is a Plaubel Makina "action shot". I was rocking back and forth while looking through the rangefinder, trying to get the left eye closest to me in sharp focus. And of course the horses were excited and constantly moving about, not so easy to do with this type of camera! But here it is.......... Here are some (desaturated) iPhone snaps taken at a small park near Hastings-On-Hudson, NY, where we were celebrating/observing Thanksgiving this past November. About twelve of us on our post-feast "recovery" walk around a pond when I spotted this amazing rock formation featuring some great swirls, at which point I said "don't wait for me...I'll catch up in a bit!" Would love to get back here with my 5x7!

Fred Newman at The Darkroom Store looked around for me, and he had in stock, a smaller version (fits about 18x18 inches), perfect for my two Peco Juniors. This finishes my basic kit for these cameras and it works great, will get used to it. Since I have three Spring-Loaded Sheet Film Backs, The Glenn Evans Galvin 2x3 (fits Graphic sheet and lever wind roll backs), The Plaubel Makiflex #526 Bail Back (fits 6x9 and 2x3 Linhof Glass Holders!), and finally, a grey 6x9 European Peco Jr Sheet Back, which came with dedicated 6x9 single shot holders, and a couple of double sided, too. This hood works with all of these, and is very well designed to be useful to me. Much nicer than the olde horse blanket! Camera shown with my Fuji GX680 180mm F3.2 in Seiko Shutter. BTW the hood is waterproof and it breathes. Tripod is Olde Leitz Tiltall modded with heavy aluminum plate.
