It was an incredible morning. One to remember (see the LF landscape thread (http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?44249-Large-Format-Landscapes&p=1217608&viewfull=1#post1217608)). It was cold as all get out. Where there were clouds it was snowing as evidenced by the dusting in the foreground. I was shooting panos behind me when I turned and saw this. It only lasted a couple minutes. I need to get to develop the color LF.

Great shot! My little dog loves to be next to me when I'm in my recliner. He and the Cat will snooze while I sleep in front of the TV.

Randy: M3 doesn't work for me, I almost always have a 35mm lens on board, so I have an M2 Leica. Need the 35mm frame lines. Still looking for a 35mm Summicron at the right price, have a Voigtländer Nokton on board right now.

I do use a digital camera too... Despite what you see on the TV, our ocean is not frozen over. It's too rough here. It's only freezing in protected harbors and rivers.

Birch Point Beach state park in Owls Head, one of my usual haunts. Light was too flat for soft focus fun, so I brought the d600 and rolleiflex. Next time I should bring a ND filter for more creativity with the waves.

Garrett, I also have a 35mm Summaron, it's a great little lens, and with it on board i can almost put the camera in my pocket. I got the Nokton only because I needed something faster, and the 1.4 Nokton was a few thousand bucks cheaper than a Summilux or Summicron. Your camera is in good hands, You will really enjoy it when it returns home.

Jmarmck
22-Feb-2015, 16:47
It is at Antelope Point Marina at Page just north of the Antelope Canyon tourist attractions. This spot would normally be under water but the lake very low. The rock has a white coating (Fe+3) from being submerged. It was flaking off in many places exposing the normal red sandstone. Interesting contrast. The complexity of the geology here is interesting.

Scott Schroeder
22-Feb-2015, 17:01

Messing around with the digi cam. Highest ISO and basic color and tonal adjustments. Exposure compensation +4 and hand held.

edit: I forgot to say the sky is very overcast and the bar shadows are very diffuse. If it was sunny I likely would have taped an additional frost to the window to diffuse the hard shadows, or whatever got it mostly shadowless. I used a piece of frost I had available but most any white material would likely have done the job.

Still enjoying the snow and visiting the beach. Here cold dry snow has blown around and dusted the frozen crunchy sand at the beach. Another one of those times when the 120 format end-of-the-roll seal fails because it freezes before it can adhere. I have a solution to that which Red Green would be proud of.

Thanks Corran. It's not much, just a few mm. I have to admit I'm not too good with metal working. I was thinking about using some chinese made step-up and step-down rings. However there's not too much clearance for the aperture lever. Looks not as promising as I hoped when I had that idea. However recently I got a Sinar with wide angle bellows. I'll mount the SA to a sinar plate and try if it works with the Sinar. :)

Renato, those are very good. That first one reflects the weather around here, at times ominous.

A digital shot from Bryce Canyon the day before the storm in late December. I was one my way to Mammoth very early the next morning.
The storm kept me from Capitol Reef and surrounding areas. I had to settle for this.

Hi, thanks Jmarmck, it's summer here in Brazil, and the part of the year I fear the most in the south cause sometimes the weather can be really extreme.
I used to go to the large sea sailing in summer, but the weather had to be monitored all the time by radio and other means. and cause of this I stop going farther then a couple of miles from the coast,

Cheers,

Renato

It was a wonderful sunset Sunday and I was hiking. Made it to a nice open clearing with tall grass (I guess?) just as the last bit of the golden hour finished up. A couple of images - taken with my Nikon F5 and 50mm f/1.4D, on Ektar 100:

http://www.oceanstarproductions.com/photosharing/gbf45-1529ss.jpg http://www.oceanstarproductions.com/photosharing/gbf45-1536ss.jpg

I'm coming to grips with Ektar. It still has a slightly blue/magenta tint to me in most situations, but, when the light really gets going and that last 15 minutes of golden sunlight hits, it's pretty nice, when shot in full sunlight. I still tweak the colors just a bit in PS.

No water shortage this year.

That's for sure. I don't know how the Flint is doing, not having been to Albany in months, but we are one big storm away from a major flood event in the low-lying residential/commercial areas near the Withlacoochee river. About 5 years ago we had such an event - completely engulfed the local YMCA building and a ton of houses/businesses nearby. They called it a "100-year flood" but then 2 years later it happened again on a slightly smaller scale. They are now building a retaining wall near that area.

jp
17-Mar-2015, 07:41
It might be dry out west, but it's wet here and will get worse once more snow and ice melts. Record amounts of ice and snow this year waiting to melt. Ice sometimes unpredictably settles or piles into temporary dams which cause flooding near rivers/streams. We get pollen from pine/fir/spruce trees. It is bright yellow and coats the water. On the ocean, it often cakes up and you can see chunks of it along the shore. I used to get quite allergic to pollen.

That was a great experiment Marty. I was pleased I got this shot, the lens was almost wide open and she was moving in fast. Plus, I had been squatting down to take a picture of a flower and was focused up close. I laugh when all the digital guys moan about "how slow" the AUTOFOCUS is on a Fuji XE-1, when i'm shooting manual focus 60 year old lenses fine!

Nice reaction then!
Me, I have a pair of glasses for distance and one for close. Question is which one do I use with a loupe ;).
I am swapping glasses so much it is like a bad Charlie Chaplin film. This is part of the reason I do so much digital.
I still prefer LF for the important works. I just am not that good at it yet.

Randy - the RB camera and the Mamiya lenses always blow me away everytime I shoot it. I myself don't shoot with it much but when I take it out and get the image right, I am always blown away with the cameras ability to capture details. It also feels the right step down from large format without getting the feeling that you are shooting with toys that I feel when I shoot with my AE1 :)

Knowing my hoarding habits with cameras, I know mine will stay with me forever.

Thanks, Clay. I forced myself to finish a roll that had been sitting in the camera for over six months in the space of an hour around the house and yard. It made for some fast, sloppy shooting--the opposite of my LF stuff--but it got me out of my comfort zone which is a good thing. Here are a few more from the same session:

No rig; I just hold the lens in front of the camera. The swings and tilts aren't on purpose entirely, but there's no way I can handhold the lens perfectly parallel to the film plane so I just go with it. I guess I'm embracing my inner Keith Carter with this method.

Oh, it's not. I do my best to press my hand/palm against the camera to create a kind of seal, but many of the shots are spoiled by flare or stray light that gets in. I try to embrace the serendipity of the whole thing. It's roll film, after all. If I lose 10 out of 36 shots, who's counting?

It's really not a problem. It's only at infinity, and you have to be ALL the way (or even past) the infinity mark on the lens. Coming off just a tad and it's fine.
This isn't a big deal to me because I'm usually shooting closer.

This was taken December 31, 2014 at Convict Lake, CA. The wind was blowing spray on the down wind side of the lake. Made for interesting ice.

I want to see that persons feet! My feet do not bend like that, actually the toes barely bend anymore.

Use X-Ray!

Kidding! :)

It looks like a boot from an R. Crumb character.

Ha!
This is one of a pair of boots a friend found in the desert. I picked the least interesting side to start with, but I am making slow progress. I had hoped to get this on film by now but still working out some camera issues. Anyway, I think this might be the closest I can get with a digiroid to what I want from the P67 without using PS.

Yeah, from the first digiroid I can't get "Keep on Truckin'" outa my head!
