I'm a little new to this. At this point I've bought and used up two complete sets of inks. While I do some color, mostly its moody B&W...so a lot of dark negative space in the prints. How can I set up the printer to only use the "Light-LLght-Black, Light-Black and Black" inks?

Is this worth it in effort and results?

Drew, there is no way to do so using the Epson driver. You will have to download and install QTR. Any supplied QTR curve called "warm" is generally just the K inks. Depending on your tastes, you may or may not like the hue of the Epson K inks, tends to be a bit brown, as carbon generally is.
You will find many options there, though, to fine tune your hue if you want, by blending in curves that use a bit of color ink to suit.

For the smoothest tones go to a black only inkset, such as the NK7 from Inkjetmall:

Hi Drew,

You might want to check some of the info at: http://www.cjcom.net/digiprnarts.htm. Clayton originally was a proponent of black only printing, mainly because he didn't like colored dots in his bw, but since getting and R2400, he uses the ABW mode and loves it.

In addition, you might want to check out www.paulroark.com. Paul has a number of bw inksets that might be of interest. I recommend checking out what you've got and then asking a few people to print off some examples of different work flows/inks.
