With all that's been said about the image circle of a G-Claron being larger than the diameter published by Schneider, how effective would a G-Claron 240mm lens be with 8x10? How much front rise or fall canone be expected to achieve with t his lens on 8x10?

Neil,

Seems I get about an inch and a half rise at infinity with my 210 before the corners go dark. So you'd get a little more than that with your 240. Theoretically.

I was curious and mounted one of these 240's on my 11X14 to find the answer. The image circle went out to about 380mm as I recall. Now if you needed to count the hairs on a gnat out by that edge you might find resolution fall-off, I'm not positive on this. When I am shooting historic architecture type things with the Deardorff it is my lens of choice. I have NEVER gotten a corner vignette using it and that's why it goes on. Plus there's the bonus that it's very sharp. All in all a very useful lens for 8X10, small, and affordable.
