Ok, so I'm refinishing an old Ries tripod. Spending so much time with it (in pieces and not) has me wanting to learn more about it. I'm curious about how old it is - while it's obviously a Ries (with the name stamped on the head and platform), it doesn't share all the features of current models.
This one's stamped "Ries Camera Co Hollywood CA". The head has the numbers 2507 and 1601 stamped in it. It has lower locking knobs, but no upper ones. It does not have "Ries" emblazoned on the legs. It's a Jr. Deluxe model legset, and the head says "Ries Model C Photoplate Tilt Head, Trade Mark, Reg US Patent Office".
Any information would be appreciated!
