Ambrotype look with film

Ambrotype has its own look and it is pretty attractive. But the whole process is quite troublesome. Is there any method how to create a print that resembles a wet plate ambrotype, but using a film? How to recreate that tonality and contrast?

Flashing paper when printng in the darkroom can give you a low contrast look that can be very similar, or using paper that has some fogging.

But in all honesty, there is nothing that can truly replace the original look of a wet plate process.
