I have an old BIG gitzo tripod and head I would like to use for my 8X10 but the head only has a 3/8's stud. Is does anyone know if there is a 1/4-20 stud available from Gitzo? I can't find a model number on it anywhere, but it is a big pan tilt head with a large "table."

I did some googling and came up empty so I thought I would see if anyone here might know. One thought is that I could use a generic 1/4-20 knob kinda thing, but it would not be retained when you take the camera off.

Try Thompson's Photo in Knoxville. I bought one from them not long ago and they had a sack full. Just Google them.

Cheers,

In case anyone is looking for one of these I just found the part number on the gitzo site: D2271.13. For some reason searching on B&H etc didn't find anything, but searching for that number did.

Once again, the 50-50-90 rule rears its ugly head. I dug through my box of parts, knowing I had one of those little devils lying around...and it's the 3/8".

Naturally.

According the the Graves Law of Shifting Reality, had you asked for a 3/8", while sitting in the box, the stud would turn into 1/4".
