i would like the option to use my technika upside down to get some front drop, i believe that there is an accessory that replaces the "hot shoe", anyone know where to find one?

thanks

Isn't there a female mounting thread underneath the shoe? Just remove the shoe and the strap...

Yes, at least on my Tech V it works that way. Just take off the shoe and there's a tripod screw there. When I know I'm likely to use it a lot this way and don't plan to use the rangefinder much, I put a QR plate on top.

If you have an earlier Tech without this feature, they made a thing called the "Outrigger Arm," which you can attach to a tripod and hang the camera next to it. The ideal arrangement would be to attach the arm directly to the center column and move the head to the arm. People often don't know what this is, so you sometimes see it sold on eBay as a flash bracket.

By the way, on the new 3000 it works differently and the shoe is removed with a supplied allen key.
