is the radar a protar copy? what is the wolly?

I have no idea about what design the Gundlach is, but this thread claims 90 degree coverage for the Gundlach---same coverage angle as the shorter Wolly.

This posting claims that the Gundlach is a copy of the Protar V, which should (!) give it more coverage than a 90 degree Wolly:

What I find odd is that if the Gundlach is a copy of the Protar V---which, given the aperture, seems likely---why does it not give similar coverage? I think you can eke 100 degrees out of the Protar, and I've focused a 14cm Protar V near infinity on the groundglass of an 8x10.

The design of the f/9.5 Wolly is not a Protar copy---it's a complicated design that no one else seems to have taken up:

I have one up in the for sale section myself. In regards to focal length, while there is no FL listed on the front of the lens, the rear element is marked 7" (see the picture in my listing).

CameraEccentric (http://www.cameraeccentric.com/) used to have a Gundlach catalog or two up on his marvelous site. Hopefully it will be back soon. As I recall the combined focal length is about 6 1/4 or 159mm. I don't believe that the catalog gave any hints as to the formula. My few experiments with one (uncoated as I suspect they all are) indicates that it certainly covers 8x10, but that distortion and unsharpness at the edges require that it be used with some caution.

The Gundlach catalog I have states this is a #5 model with 90 degrees of coverage, flat flied with uniform illumination. I found that to be true with with the one I own when stopped to f22. It covers 8x10 and has the same "pull" (as opposed to distortion) at the edges you would expect with any short focus lens on an 8x10. They can be difficult to focus in dim light however.
