View Full Version : Does the Sinar 8x10 Fresnel work like the 4x5 one?

With the 4x5 Sinar Fresnel, you just place it over the ground glass when you want the extra brightness, but you focus on the GG for the final focusing... The 4x5 has a nice frame and tabs to hold it by, and you tend to use it more off and on.

I haven't seen many 8x10 Sinar fresnels but there is one on eBay that looks like just a plain old hunk of fresnel... is that meant to be used the same way (on and off) or is it permanently mounted (viewer side or lens side?)

Thanks

Frank,

on the back of a friends 8x10 F-series, the Fresnel is held with tabs towards the eye.

My 8x10" SINAR Fresnel is not so easy to put on and remove as the 4x5" which has a frame and a "handel" tab. It is also impossible to focus through it. So a big darkcloth and
a moving head are the best to compose and focus.

Frank, IMO the 810 Norma does not need a fresnel.
