Can anyone tell me if a AERO-EKTAR I, 6-in. (153mm), f/2.5 lens will cover 4x5?
I would like a fast standard lens with shallow dof and this seems one of the possible options.

One other question: how useable are these lenses for a bit closer work (up to 1:1) - as they are designed for aerial photography?

Not quite. Stated coverage for the 6" aero-ektar is 4x4. It's also a huge lens and not much (if at all) smaller than the 7" version. Personally I think you'd be better off with the 7" which covers 4x5 nicley.

Thank you for the information Pat. Yes, I did hope it to be a bit smaller than the 7 inch version.
I'll go find myself a 7" then.

I have both. The 6" lens is fine for a 120 roll film camera, but get the 7" for 4x5.

The 6" is big, but not nearly as huge as the 12" f/2.5 Aero-Ektar. That baby is a monster.

And your photos will have a nice "glow." (Aero Ektars are radioactive...)
