I curious to ask if anyone on this forum has ever purchased ICC profiles made by Eric Chan?

The price seems reasonable and Eric certainly seems compotent and qualified.

Here is the link:

Thanks,

That's a very reasonable price. Plus given the number of patches, and the equipment of course, it should be a good profile. I have no idea how he can do this for such little money.

Yeah for $20, there isn't much risk involved.

Thanks,

Don

If he knows what he's doing he should be able to make good profiles for glossy or semi-glossy papers. For matte papers and difficult surfaces like canvas, we like to use a spectrophotometer with a polarizing filter that can draw out more shadow detail in the profile.

I'm pretty sure Eric knows what he's doing as he is a computer scientist at Adobe. You can see his latest work on the new Lightroom 2. Eric developed the new DNG Profile Editor (http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Profiles:Editor) also.

With that said I've used Chromix (http://www2.chromix.com/) many times for custom paper profiles....all excellent.
