The 254mm image circle of the Apo-Ronar 300mm is too small for 8x10" but it works fine up to 13x18cm/5x7". It was mounted also in shutter size #1. But not all barrel mounted lenses can be remounted in a shutter. Also the space between the lenses and the diaphragm must be aligned to avoid coma in the outer parts of the image. So the lens can be used at infinity and wide open.

Stefan, i use a 300mm on my 8x10 it is a factory mounted MC version in a #1 Compur Proffesional.
Great lens, i just came back from a hike this afternoon and have one shoot taken with this lens. Will post if any good (Coverage not an issue) i get about an inch of rise at infinity.

Well, i did push this one a bit to far. No print yet but it is clear from the negative that one of the corners are mushy. I did have full rise on the front standard = 56mm and should have known better than that. I will try to get a test shot taken later this week and be more carefull with my adjustments.
