I was in Durango last night for the opening reception of the Henri Cartier-Bresson/Craig Semetko exhibit titled Street Photography:From Classic to Contemporary. The space was jammed with viewers and well-wishers. Approximately 20 to 25 signed black and white photos of Cartier-Bresson and Semetko, each, lined the two long walls. The show runs from June 26 through July 30.

This was also the inaugural event for Open Shutter's new home. Margie Dudley has moved the gallery from its cramped space on Second Avenue to a much larger venue on Main Avenue.

Open Shutter has been a longstanding supporter and patron of photography. If you happen to be doing a little shooting in Southwestern Colorado, the gallery is worth a few minutes of your time. It is located at 735 Main Avenue. www.openshuttergallery.com

I've been to Open Shutter a few times over the years as well. I'll echo the comments that it's well worth the visit. After seeing the Andrew Smith gallery in Santa Fe, Open Shutter is more akin to photographs on my level; that is, I'm not an Ansel Adams. The whole gallery felt more 'personable'.

I haven't seen the new space, though I'll miss the old location.
