I have been playing with putting still life style compositions together, recently.

Apologies for the poor resolution this being a scan of a straight contact print but i only have and use a HP scanjet 2300 as a type of sketch pad. I would guess most could see the greater texture of a 16x20 silver print. What I am looking for is some sort of haptic style which is more like a vision you need to feel your way into rather then being able to be grasped immediately as an optical image. (Experimental psychology looks at haptic sensation as the way into optic perception, as well.)

Anyways, here is one attempt, albeit a low resolution sketch. Other directions and styles invited.

This was made, 4x5, with an Ilex Caltar 215mm lens with Ekfe 25 and #25 red filter.

Hmm, looks to me like a white cat in a snowstorm

Chris, Haptic minimalism in its essence, very provocative indeed..... I'm feeling my way into the head of a blind man wandering in a darkened room looking despairingly for a small print of a black cat that isn't there........profound!!

It must be the time difference Chris :) Remember no matter what, it is yesterday where they are and despite high speed internet your scan seem a bit slow. Maybe tomorrow :) Kev the black cat in a dark room works for me.

It really messed with my head when I was in the US Kev and it was always yesterday and my football team had already lost :) I always had to get up a day earlier to catch the scores.

Steve,
when I were a lad, there were 5 of us in t' ole, and thought ourselves lucky not be on t' bottom. Sheer luxury.
Monty's got a lot to answer for.

But was there a sheet of cardboard :)

I must listen to them again one day and see if I still have a "juvenile" sense of humour.

----- and Chris if you do work out how to post your images I for one would like to see them.

'Sleep in a hole'... you were lucky, we were so poor, that for an occasional treat a Christmas time we would give Grandpa a old peppermint to suck and then we would all sit around his tongue:p

Steve, bet there still hilarious:)

There is something to be said for British humour -- it is actually funny :)

My grandfather said that he and his brothers were so poor that at Christmas his parents would cut holes in their pockets so they'd have something to play with.
