I'm somewhat new to scanning and I was thinking of buying this book,"Scanning Negatives and Slides: Digitizing Your Photographic Archives" It seems interesting and full of how to's but maybe you all know a better book.
I hate to fork out $30 if find there is something better.

First see if you can get to know the scanning software you have before spending 30 bucks.

I have been using an Epson 4990 with the Epson software but have been playing with the Silverfast program. But, I have noticed Scanner Banding and I wish to get better proficient.

There is a book that was written about Silverfast. You might be able to get it off of the Silverfast site but I think I remember reading a post that it is now out of print. Check Amazon, ebay and the like to find a copy. You have been to www.scantips.com, right?

Here is a Silverfast tutorial in case you have not seen it yet:

There are some others out there if you do a bit of searching.
