Hi,

Just bought a Horseman L 4x5 and am looking for a bellows extension scale to put on the focusing rail. I have looked on ebay and B&H, but cannot find any of these stick on millimeter scales. If anyone knows of a source for these it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hello Jesse,

Calumet makes an exposure calculator which I find to be easy to use and accurate. The cost is about $11. You might look into it on the Calumet website.

If both standards are moveable, you will probably need two scales originating from a zero point near the mid point of the rail . . . one measuring from the middle forward and the other from the middle to the rear. That way you van move either or both standards when setting up and focusing, then all you do is add the measurements on the 2 scales together to get the total extension.

An alternative is to put the zero point at the very rear of the rail, take the distance to the front standard and subtract from it the distance from zero to the rear standard.

I have one of thos small key chain pull-out tape measures on the rear standard of my 5x7 B&J and just pull the tape out to measure the extension.
