Anybody know of any outfits that do a reasonably prompt and reliable, good quality job by mail? Looking to process transparencies, and process and print color and B&W negatives 4x5 format.
Thanks,
LJS

I've been very happy with Alliedphotocolor.com out of St. Louis. Very fast and excellent quality.

Calypso Imagining of Santa Cruz, CA. I've used them exclusively for years; their prices are excellent, service outstanding, and just a great group of people to do business with.

There are many great labs in Chicago, why would you even consider mailing sheet film to have it processed? Chicago is a major advertising photography center that still has many labs that do what you want. Gamma being one of them, and probably the best. Print Lab for black and white. You can get your E6 film back in four hours time, there is no reason to mail your film out from a city like Chicago.

chromedigital.com does a good service. it's the one i use, though i'm local they do mail orders as well. they do E-6, C-41, and B&W. although for B&W, you'll get the best results doing your own processing. there are just too many variables in B&W development that needs to be precisely controlled in order to get exactly what you want.

Calypso in Santa Cruz, CA for E-6, Black & White in Arlington, VA for (what else?) b&w. B&W will run custom chemistry for you, and does a fantastic job with both processing and printing. That reminds me... I've got to send them a batch of film tomorrow!

I've had Gamma screw up film a few times, my students and colleagues too. I've never had a single problem with Praus. They do push pull processing to my specs etc.

I have tried Gamma and so far have not been happy with either their service or results, thus my question to the forum (and thanks for the responses).

I used to use Gamma but found their prices to be too high. Photo Craft in Boulder Co. gets all my business now. Prices are half that of Gamma's and good turn around time too.
