Does anyone have any knowledge on the Drobo (http://www.drobo.com/) data storage system? I am thinking of upgrading my system in the near future and this is what I have in mind. My current Dell system is RAID with two drives and two Western Digital external drives. I also use portable hard drives for storage swaps when uploading post processing jobs for commercial photographers. I use Lightroom, CS3 and other digital imaging softwares. I also run a wamp server for php/MySQL programming jobs.

Any feed back on Drobo (or a like system) would be appreciated. :)

Thanks in advance,
Darr

I didn't go very deep into details but it seems to me like under the hood Drobo is just a RAID device that connects to your machine via USB. Looks somewhat overpriced for what it really does. I bought Sans Digital MobileSTOR enclosure and two 750Gb SATA drives for about $350 total, set the mode to RAID1 (mirror) and never had any single problem.
