Have any of you used the Nikkor 300mm f9. lens? It's the smaller lighter 300mm. I have a 300 mm but it's a 5.6 and is very heavy. I use a 4x5 field camera and it also only goes up to 125 shutter speed.

Yes. I use one on 4x5 and 6-1/2 x 8-1/2 and am pleased with it.

Lots of information on this lens in the archives.

I have used both the Nikkor 300mm and 200mm on a 4x5 Toho and now an Arca-Swiss and have been very pleased with it. It is very sharp, lighweight, and easy to focus.

It's a wonderful lens. I sold my 305 G-Claron for it several years ago and I am very happy.

I have and use one. It's a fine lens. Mine is on a Gowland Aerial camera and lately I've been using it for 8x10 night photography with FP-4+ and TMY. What it's got going for it is it is small enough to fit into a Copal #1 shutter, is multicoated, and very sharp even when shot wide open. I think it would be a superb lens on a 4x5

I also use one on a 4x5 field camera and join the choir singing praise for it. At 300mm, I'd take the little one (and about 2 lbs off my pack) over a piggy plasmat any day. A similar offering, though seemingly rarer and more money, is the Fujinon C 300mm f8.5. I just picked up the one that came around within my budget.

Me too. I've owned mine for about 10 years, it's a great lens plus it's small and light weight. With a lens that long f9 is no problem.

Both the Nikkor and the Fuji are good performers.
