From when he was a little boy through WW2, JH Lartigue used Plate and stereo cameras (often hand-held). Does anyone have any infomation about what cameras he used later in his career? Thanks.

Hello from France
A few years ago there was an exhibition of Lartigue's photos in my hometown. In addition to the pictures, some vintage cameras were displayed, similar to those used by Lartigue during his life (1894-1986)
So he did use a Rolleiflex 6x6 TLR after the 1940's but this was probably not his favourite camera
His archives show that in the fifities and beginning of the sixties he still used a 6x6 camera, for example

Later he mostly used 35mm cameras, including for the official portrait of President Giscard d'Estaing.
----
When he was a boy before WWI he used 13x18cm plate camera, hand-held.
Then he used a 9x12 ICA single lens reflex, the camera was used for the famous picture with oval wheels.

So, the older he was, the smaller the format, exactly the reverse with respect to many people on this forum ;-)

All the Lartigue archives are gradually being sorted and digitized.
The website is gradually translated into English

He's one of my favorite photographers. Lartique always kept his youthful spirit through his shooting years. A true master of the camera, who never subscribed to a 'school' or 'look' to his imagery, but instead strove to capture the majesty, fun, and energy of the human spirit. I love teaching about him to my students.

I think the thing I love best about Lartigue (even more than his photographs) was his diary. Every day, no matter how shitty it would seem, he described as beautiful, or more beautiful, etc!
