Processing LF films in Japan

Does any one know a place in Kyoto and/or Tokyo where 8x20 and 4X5 film (negs and slides) can be processed? Thks.

Two of the major labs are Horiuchi Color and Create. Unfortunately their websites are pretty much Japanese only.

For Horiuchi, go to http://www.horiuchi-color.co.jp/ and click on "FOR ENGLISH" in the left frame. That's the list of their locations (and the only page in English). They do E6 and C41 up to 11x14. The link to B&W processing is disabled, which may mean they have dropped it.

Create has 4 outlets in Tokyo--the top 4 in this page: http://www.prolab-create.jp/shop/index.html. They are in Shibuya, Shinjuku, Shinbashi, and Ginza. None in Kyoto.

Fuji has a list of recommended labs: http://fujifilm.jp/business/professionalphoto/photographer/labo/. Create labs are listed here and, I believe, owned by Fuji.

Another from Fuji's list, Shashin Kosha in Tokyo, has English site (http://www.shashinkosha.co.jp/english/) with e-mail address for inquiries in English (top of the home page). Under the "SERVICE" there's only B&W printing, but they do processing (E6, C41, B&W) up to 8x10.

I don't know if anyone does 8x20 :eek:. If you have specific questions, I can help you with translation and inquiries.

Do you think Biccamera keeps 8x10 Fujifilm PRO 160S negs in stock in their Shibuya store. I prefer to purchase films in Japan than crossing airport Xrays with them, and have them processed in Japan for the same reason. Biccamera shows the films on their internet site here but as I don't read Japanese I am not sure. Biccamera is the only store I know, you may have other address recommendations.

According to the Bic Camera website, you need to contact each store to confirm what they have. Yodobashi is another large chain with the main store in Shinjuku (west exit) as Howard suggests. Their online store lists only 4x5 color negs, but I imagine they can get 8x10s on order.

If you pick a location (Shibuya, Shinjuki...), I can ask them if certain films are available for pre-order and store pick up. You may also want to contact Dirk Rosler and Gary Smith from this forum. They are in Japan and may be able to give you additional info/help.

Thanks for your advice, I sent a private message to Dirk and Gary. I am waiting for their reply.

In case I need to preorder 8x10 Fujifilm, with your permission I will contact you to see if you can ask the Shibuya Biccamera store to preorder them for me. I am used to shopping at this address. I tried once to telephone from Europe but my Japanese is worse than their English and it was very complicated. I'll then give you my Biccamera client card so they can easily trace me.
