Kodak Announcements at PMA

I forgot to ask anyone about film at the Kodak display (because I was busy talki ng to Robin, the rep with the P&S cameras - she was quite cute.), but they said they had new product announcements, so I looked them up today at Kodak's press releas e site (http:/ /www.kodak.com/cgi-bin/webChronList.cgi?page_type=PressRel).

Your T-Max in the new Readyloads were announced. Also, the new holder form Koda k. It will be released in the second quarter of the year.

They announced a new 400 speed chromogenic film under the Portra name. Not avai lable in sheet films, though. Not sure how it is supposed to differ from T400CN (or if it actually does.) There's also a new Portra chromogenic B&W paper.

That was from Sunday. I don't see what the big product announcement was for Mon day thay they were hyping - guess it is the new inkjet media. I don't have a co mputer and home, so I don't pay much attention to that.

Kodaks new Portra chromogenic B&W film is intended for printing on color negative paper with RA-4 processing. Kodak specifically does NOT recommend printing from this film onto traditional B&W papers.

Did anyone at PMA see Kodak's new holder, and, if so, were you able to tell whether it corrects the film positioning problem caused by not accounting for envelope thickness?

This is a question rather than a response. With respect to the new Readyload holder and T Max film, I'm a little confused by the fact that the new version of the film packet is supposed to be released in March or April but the holder isn't to be released until later in the year (as I understand it). Is it correct to infer from this that the new packets are usable in the old Readyload holders? I wouldn't have thought so but otherwise I don't know why the film would be available in advance of the new holder if the new holder is the only one in which the film can be used.

I think I heard that the new Readyloads were compatible with Fuji Quickload holders. If so, maybe that explains the timing.

Kodak's Technical Data/Reference E-2549 states "Compatibility with POLAROID Model 545i Film Holder"
