Haha that's why I won't buy it!

That's amazing how the lens interior has an automatic self-peeling mode.

Geeze look at some of their other auctions, a used, with peeling leather leica with scratches and its only $200K US, man even for the only claimed known example, I would say it is just a bit high! Yikes

If they are realistically making a business out of all these items, it's rediculous...they have over 4000 and they are all big money items...they would be multi-millionaires if they sold it all...

I think this is the house that sells FOR Leica, Linhof, etc. from the company archives.

How does the Schneideritis effect the lens when taking a foto or does it at all:

"Schneideritis" has no noticeable effect. So feel free to buy the camera if you are so inclined!

"Schneideritis" are white spots in the laquer that seals the edge of the lenses. But with this camera one could expect golden dots.

As a point of reference, when these cameras were new they we sold them to dealers for $500.00 more then a standard chrome MT. So they apparently have appreciated! One dealer, Phil's Camera in Miami, gave one away in a drawing at his grand opening. He is no longer in business.

They also have a $202,000 Leica M5 prototype straight from the Leica collection if you're so inclined. I think it is diesel powered, it looks so ugly.

I have a photojournalist assignment in the Middle East and I think this would be a great camera for getting some shots in a war zone. (Literally)

Shots of the war zone or shots at you from the war zone? :)

I think this is the house that sells FOR Leica, Linhof, etc. from the company archives.

It would seem that's the case. They sold one Leica finder for a couple of hundred dollars which hardly is the cash flow required to support the enterprise if they actually had purchased their inventory.

I wonder if the companies would do better at an auction house if purchasers were informed that items were from company collections rather than the common used beaters that show up on eBay?

What's the state of the rare & high end auction market? I haven't looked at any of that information for a few years. Most people I knew with good collections got out of the "market" 8-10 years ago.

Yuck . . . that is one gaudy looking camera. Might be gold plated, but it looks like a cheap do-it-yourself job.

Ciao!

It does look more like anodized aluminum than jewelry. It was meant to be used - not admired on a shelf - and does look like a knock-off replica. I do wonder if anyone really needs it or most of the stuff this crew has.

They sure have a horrible feedback rating..shows how much Leica/Linhof/etc. care about their products...

Have a look at everything they sell...it's all 40% more than what you can buy it for from another seller...
