Would appreciate feedback on a high quality but lightwieght lens for 8x10 use on a field camera, mostly outdoors, mostly landscape. My thoughts are to get a schneider apo symmar L 210 (1.2 lb) v.s. fuji A 240 (.5 lb) v.s. fuji cmw 250 (1.1 lb) v.s. schneider g claron 270 (.8 lb). I realize 210 to 270 covers a wide range. Am more interested in the one with best clarity/resolution. thanks in advance for any help

IMHO, the Fujinon-A 240mm lens is the leader in that group. Widely used, highly thought off. Very sharp indeed.

I have never used one (but I have the 180mm version), but another lens to consider is the 210mm Fujinon W. This is the original single coated version with the lettering on the inside of the front face of the lens. It is supposed to cover 8x10 very nicely. Other modern lenses that have good reputations (based on hanging out here for a while) are the 250mm f/6.7 Fujinon and 210mm and 240mm G-Claron. Watch out, I understand that the newer Fujinon 250mm f/6.3 does not have the same image circle as the f/6.7 version.

Ditto Bruce's comment. The only one of the group that I have owned is the 240 A Fuji. Have used it on everything from Horseman VH (6x9 cm) to Kodak Commercial View (8x10) and find it a stunning performer: contrasty, sharp, no flare.
Good hunting.
