lens board aperture

I have just purchased a super angulon 90mm f8 in compur shutter circa 1961. My c urrent lensboard for the angulon 90mm f6.8 is copal 0 and doesn't fit. I'm presu ming I need an 00 fitting but cambo don't list one for the cambo explore/cadet. So I'm going to bite the bullet and get one made, but what is the aperture size that I need? Any help , as always, is much appreciated.

Dave: Just take the ring off that locks the lens to the board and mark around the inside of it. Draw a line from corner to corner to find the exact center. Nothing to it. If you send it out to be drilled, let them take the measurements. It won't hurt if its a few thousands too big, and you can file it out a little if too small.

you might try drilling holes in pieces of board until you find the right drill bit. then just drill a blank lens board. at least that is what I would do. Just curious does the shutter have B & T ?-J

Contact Calumet. They may have a lensboard with the right hole diameter or drill one for you. On the other hand, they custom drilled a lensboard for me for $10 or $15 when I purchased a new lensboard, which is cheap considering if you ruin the board you have to buy a new one. If they ruin it, they have to eat the cost.

According to my calipers, you need a 1.050" hole for the locking ring on a No. 00 shutter (or at least for the Synchro-Compur shutter on my 58mm Grandagon). If you don't have a drill press, though, I'd have a dealer or machine shop drill the hole as it's easy to screw things up with a hand drill.

Thanks for the advice. I contacted my local machine shop who took one look and said , easy, #2.00 ($3.00),if the boss doesn't see, so that's me set up for the weekend. All I have to do now is "paint it black" as an aging rocker once said.
