So Transmit now demands that I upgrade for a fee, which would be fine except that my current Power PC Mac G4 will likely be moved over in favor of a new Intel Mac within the next few months and I'm not buying any more software for the Power PC platform. So, to that end, what feeware FTP clients are available that are actually worth looking at? Thanks!

Try Fetch (http://www.fetchsoftworks.com/) and RBrowser (http://www.rbrowser.com/) (free for FTP use only).

I use Cyberduck (http://cyberduck.ch/), no problems.

It looks like FileZilla (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=21558) works for PC, both flavors of Mac, and Linux.

I have used Fetch and filezilla with no problems.

I ha been using Fetch for years and love it but I thought there was a fee unless it is for nonprofit/educational use.

Another vote for cyberduck. I used Fetch for years, but cyberduck won me over and I've stuck with it very happily.

Fugu is nice. I use it on a G4 mini to move files to/from work.

Alternately, sftp/ftp from a terminal work like they should on any proper BSD system.

Here's another vote for Fetch. Works great on my Mac Pro.

BTW, welcome to Intel processors, you will like very much! :D

I began using Fetch about a year ago. When the trial expired, i paid $25 for a download. Now it just expired! They aren't answering my emails. Anyone had this issue. Is there a free or cheap FTP program that i can stick with. I used r browser for a trial period as well.

There's a command line ftp client included with OS X, if you're old school enough to like that sort of thing.

Have you tried calling the tech support line 877-505-2045?

Cyberduck (http://cyberduck.ch/) (http://www.cyberduck.ch/) is free and quite good, as is the previously mentioned Fugu (http://rsug.itd.umich.edu/software/fugu/) (http://rsug.itd.umich.edu/software/fugu/). But for $30, you can get Transmit from Panic Software (http://www.panic.com/transmit/) (http://www.panic.com/transmit/), and it beats the pants off all the others (including Fetch) in terms of features and reliability.
