Hi all,

How critical is it to use a non-acidic environment for deving in pcat-hd and retaining stain? Do you all use water stop and alkaline fix, or is it not necessary? How about using water stop and rapid fix? Thanks in advance,

GB

It is not necessary to use a non-acid environment for developing with Pyrocat-HD. I personally use an acetic stop bath followed by an alkaline rapid fix (Formulary TF-4). However, if necessary I would not hesitate a second to use an acid fix. It might result in some slight loss of stain density, but not enough to make a practical difference IMO.
