Hi,

Going alongside my thread in the camera forum..I am looking at the options for one lens to be used with helical focussing mounts on a hand holdable 54 camera such as the fotoman ps.

There will be no need for any movements.

Looking in the 100mm or thereabouts range.(90 - 120mm max)

I currently use and love my schneider 80 and 110 xl lenses but the 110 is certainly over weight for this use and the 80 perhaps simply over precious. I'd also rather not be taking my 80mm on and off it's lens board every time I use this camera.

The camera will not have / use any movements so a large image circle is not needed.
F8 or less is wanted as I'm hand holding and may often use it close to wide open..close but not fully open.

Any lenses that come to mind that fit the very light, very small, etc needs.

As I'll be hand holding I'm looking for something nice and sharp and of course I don't really want to buy new / spend too much...

Thanks,

Marc

With no movements, a 90/6.8 Angulon should be fine. If you can go to 135mm, the 135mm/5.6 Symmar or Sironar-N (or Caltar badged versions) are also very light and compact. They all use 40.5 mm filters (and so does the 150/4.5 Xenar, which is also nice and compact).

For small, light and in that focal range, I'm thinking a 90mm Angulon might be the ticket...Might be a little iffy on coverage, though.

Shouldn't be a problem. (http://www.bruraholo.no/Cameras/Angulon/)

is it right that these older super angulons (90mm F5.6) are only 130 grammes..that is very light and certainly worth it...also less of a worry pulling the camera in and out of a shoulder bag than using my 80mm xl!

It's the 90/6.8 Anglon that's 130 g, not the Super-Angulon. They can often be had for under $150.
