My 15 year old Benbo has finally died (lever has lost its thread) and I think I need to get a new tripod for my Cambo 5x4...

Any suggestions of an affordable tripod (with head) that works well with a rail camera such as this?

In the past I have found it difficult to get tripod heads with the thicker screw mount that the rail has - again suggestions?

All input very much appreciated :)

Thanks
Alan

If you like the tripod, why not get a replacement knob (mcmaster.com or reidsupply.com)? Depending on the wear, you may need to re-tap the hole or go up in thread size, but it's much cheaper than a new tripod if you're handy.

You can get a generic 3/8 to 1/4 inch bushing to fit the rail clamp for about $3 or $4 at a camera shop.

Thanks - I love the Benbo - it takes a little getting used to but once you do - its difficult to get used to the limitations of any other tripod.

I am going to see if I can retap the hole etc
