I just bought a multifocus view finder for a Master Technika 2000 ( i think it is a 2000) seriel number "858134%" and it will not go all the way on the hot shoe. It goes about 1/4 of the way and then no further. Anybody know why. It does not look bent.

here is the link for the finder

thanks

hi thomas,

just had a look at my viewfinder and hot shoe which are both master tech style.
maybe a silly question, but is it possible, that the two springs keeping the vf in place are obstructing or giving more resistance than you expect?
try it with a little more force. are you pushing the vf from the back onto the shoe? that is the way to do it, since the screw jutting out of the shoe will stop the finder from dropping off the shoe. and taht will not work at all pushing the finder in from the front.

hope this helps?

The MT 2000 doesn't have a rangefinder and has a built-in focusing mechanism for wide lenses using the inner rails. If this describes your camera, you probably have a MT 2000 (If you had the new 3000, you would probably know it).

Is the shoe on the camera the original shoe? It should have the serial number of the camera on it, and it's longer than a normal flash shoe.

Is there a way to tell if I have a 2000 or 3000? Does it matter for the problem I am having? Can you tell from the seriel # ( "858134%" )? It goes in about 20 percent of the way and that is it. Yes the shoe appears to be original with a seriel number on it.

The 3000 is very new, so if you bought the camera used, it's not likely to be a 3000.

The struts on the 3000 have three stops for lowering the bed, and the struts on the 2000 only have two stops.

My camera has three and not four notches in the struts so I think thaty makes it a 2000.

The shoe isn't a hot shoe, it's an accessory shoe.

I could swear it's hot shoe. I just can't figure out where to stash the battery ;)
