hi guys, got a noob question.

I'm getting into 4x5, and I picked sinar mostly due to how the whole system works (modularity, reusability, reputation) all which should ease my frustration with the foray into large format.

so I had a question about sinar db mounts, like this (http://www.usedcamerabuyer.com/digital-camera/Kodak_ProSLR_062207_138_EH.JPG).

the reason the lens is so far front mounted is to clear the sinar auto shutter, or are there some focal node vis-a-vis the tilt axis issues I'm not aware of?

thanks!

"the reason the lens is so far front mounted is to clear the sinar auto shutter"
This is the reason and nothing else!

Obviously it also affects tilt. I believe (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) that Sinar has angles worked out so that tilting is very convenient even though you're tilting around the lens axis.
